Stephen Harper has Jesus in his Pocket?
If this is true. Honestly, how on earth can anyone ever hope to stop him in an election now?
Seriously, have you been watching the news? A whole lot is being made of the fact that Harper was at the funeral of former governor general Roméo LeBlanc and he partook in Communion at a Catholic Church. Apparently it was captured on video by someone that decided to post it on youtube. I have seen the video, and the big fauz pas appears to be that it is “unclear” as to whether Harper actually swallowed the wafer or stuck it in his pocket.
Just to clear things up a bit for people that may not completely understand, there is a difference between Protestant Communion, and Catholic Communion. Catholics believe that the body of Christ is present when they take communion, while Protestants believe that the act of Communion is simply a representation of the taking of Christ’s body, not that they are literally partaking in the body of Christ. Also of note, usually a Protestant would not be allowed to take part in a Catholic Communion, because of the differences in faith.
So, that brings to light a real question. Did Harper partake in the body of Christ, or did he simply see a fool-proof way to ensure that he will remain as Prime Minister of Canada? Divine Right.
Divine Right: the doctrine that leaders derive their right to rule directly from God and are not accountable to their subjects;
Perhaps Mr. Harper has found a way to take this even one step further. Perhaps rather than getting the right to rule from God, he has found a way to take God with him everywhere he goes. What is better than having the Lord in your pocket to help you make some snap decisions?
See, the news is making this out to be a social faux pas, but the reality is, perhaps now we can honestly say that our country is in good hands. I mean, at least we would know that if Stephen was taking the Good Lord’s advice, he couldn’t lie like every other politician, right?
The United States has built themselves up wih “In God We Trust” and many people feel that that isn’t a great statement for the United States anymore. Perhaps this is all about slogans for Stephen Harper and Canada. If the US plans to do away with the moniker, who better to take it on than a country that has their leader parading around with Him in his pocket?
See, people say this makes our country once again look foolish, I on the other hand, believe that with God on our side we should be headed in the right direction…
…Now if only he could help Stephen be on time for photo ops.
